Leaflets: Not 100% effective againsts biological weapons

21 March 2003

'At the moment, we do not believe that the best way to offer useful, up-to-date advice is to issue a national leaflet.' - Home Office website devoted to terrorism

There's a wonderful 'man from the ministry' feel to the advice coming from the Home Office, which has helpfully posted up some terror attack 'FAQs', including a topic dear to the hearts of us animal-loving Brits:

'Q: What about my pets or animals?

A: The handling of animals, including pets, would depend very much on the particular circumstances of an incident...'

Or, in plain English: Fuck knows. Can cats get smallpox? Ask your vet.'

 ABOUT THE FRIDAY THING
Bad words ahead The Friday Thing is a weekly email comment sheet. Casting a cynical eye over the week's events, it is rarely fair and never balanced.

A selection of articles from each week's issue appear online, but to enjoy the full Thing, delivered by email every Friday - as well as access to almost five years of back issues - you'll need to subscribe. It's absolutely free.
